The New Beginnings of SWFL, Inc.
The second weekend of May was a milestone weekend for The New Beginnings and more specifically for one of our mothers, Miss Amey.
Miss Amey has been with us for about two and a half years and has diligently put the time and effort into changing her future. This weekend was the culmination of many long nights and hard decisions for Amey. To begin with Amey graduated from Florida Southwestern University with a double associates degree. On Friday night the entire TNB gang was able to support Amey at Germain Arena for her graduation. This accomplishment alone is an outstanding feat and we are so proud of Amey's hard work and dedication to earning her degree and education. However the events of this weekend did not stop there!
On Saturday The New Beginings family and friends of Amey gathered at Cape Coral Methodist church in order to witness Amey's marriage to Jason Green! Jason and Amey had a wonderful, Christ-centered, wedding and so a day after graduating college Amey married a great man and the two have begun their life together along with Amey's two precious boys, Isaac and Kendall. Please join with us in praying over this union and that God can be the center of Jason and Amey's marriage.
Miss Amey we are so proud of you and the woman you have become. It hasn't been an easy road for you and we can't wait to see the great things God has in store for your life. We have truly been blessed to have you be a part of our lives. We look forward to the future with you and your family.
On April 18th, Chris and Sharon Huber offered to host a cookout for The New Beginnings. As we worked out the details with the Hubers it became very evident that they wanted to provide everything. They even brought their own firewood! We invited not only the mothers but the neighborhood children as well. If you're not familiar with The New Beginnings we are located in a lower class neighborhood where there is a lot of need. Chris and Sharon had a heart to help reach out to these children and offer them a safe, fun and appropriate evening with us!
We started the evening with a prayer and immediately got the hot dog roasting under way! The kids were very excited to stick their hot dogs into the fire; I'm sure that's not a surprise! After the hot dogs we had a great game of kick-ball that had no outs involved thus leaving the adults in the outfield for the entire game! The kids had fun kicking with no pressure though!
After kick-ball we got out the guitar and sang around the fire for a bit before having s'mores. When it was all said and done we had a bunch of tired kids and a memory of a wonderful evening. A huge thanks to Chris and Sharon for their generosity!
