Mentors

One of the critical components of success for The New Beginnings will be our mentors.  Our mentors will live in the same facility as our single moms and will provide assistance and advice with their day-to-day challenges. 

It is important to note that our mentors are NOT babysitters. 

We believe that our mentors are uniquely called by God and will meet many/all of the following criteria:

• Have experience working with young adults and have compassion for their challenges.
• Serve as counselors to young women with children and help them develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and become responsible adult parents.
• Be willing to develop long-term relationships with the single moms that are part of our program.  Be willing to nurture and exemplify a life mirroring the love of Christ to those who may not have ever experienced it.
• Be willing to work with others (within and outside our program) to help our single moms accomplish their goals.
• Be willing to lead and/or participate in a regular Bible study.
• Be willing to attend and support a local Christian church.
• Be financially responsible and able to assist with basic budgeting issues.

Mentors will provide guidance to two single moms at the apartment facility.  They may also provide assistance (if applicable) with college course selection and accountability for maintaining an acceptable grade-point-average.
